1. Information Narra processes

The account, study, voice, usage, and purchase data used by Narra.

  • Account data: email address, user ID, display name, authentication provider, and account dates.
  • Study content: topics, notes, lesson text, saved lessons, course prompts, quizzes, and other content you choose to provide.
  • Voice data: microphone audio and realtime transcripts when you start Narra Voice. Narra does not record in the background.
  • Usage data: feature interactions, lesson and voice usage, plan status, diagnostics, and errors needed to operate and secure the service.
  • Purchase data: product, subscription status, purchase history, and an account-linked transaction identifier supplied by Apple or Stripe. Narra does not receive full card details.

2. How information is used

Why Narra needs this information.

Narra uses this information to authenticate you, generate and save study materials, provide narration and voice conversations, meter daily usage, deliver purchases, restore subscriptions, provide support, prevent abuse, and improve reliability. Narra does not sell personal data or use study content for advertising.

3. AI and voice disclosure

How consent and AI processing work.

Before Narra first sends study or voice data to an AI provider, the app asks for your permission. If allowed, the topic, notes, course material, or lesson text you choose may be sent to OpenAI to generate educational content. During Narra Voice, microphone audio and resulting transcripts are sent to OpenAI Realtime so the conversation can work. Lesson narration and study read-aloud can be generated by Narra's Kokoro voice service when available, with local/browser fallback where supported. You can withdraw this permission in Settings. After withdrawal, features that require AI processing will ask again before sending data.

4. Service providers

The processors Narra relies on.

  • Supabase: account authentication, profiles, saved lessons, usage, and application data.
  • OpenAI: lesson generation, explanations, microphone audio, realtime transcripts, and voice-session summaries.
  • Kokoro: Narra-operated, local, on-device, or in-browser lesson and study narration.
  • Speechify: optional demo audio and extension explanation voice responses while the Kokoro rollout continues.
  • Apple: App Store in-app purchases, subscription entitlements, restores, and App Store Server Notifications.
  • Stripe: website-only subscriptions and transaction processing.
  • Vercel: application hosting, delivery, and operational logs.

Narra requires processors to use data only to provide contracted services, maintain appropriate security, and provide protection equivalent to the commitments described in this policy.

5. Retention and deletion

How long records remain and what deletion does.

  • Account, profile, saved lesson, and usage records remain until you delete your account.
  • Raw Narra Voice microphone audio is streamed for the live session and is not intentionally stored in Narra's database. Realtime transcript data is held only long enough to operate the session and create its summary.
  • Temporary operational and security logs are retained for no more than 30 days unless needed to investigate fraud, abuse, or a security incident.
  • When you use Settings → Delete Account, Narra immediately initiates hard deletion of the Supabase Auth account and owned application records, including subscription entitlement records, and cancels any active Stripe web subscription.
  • Apple controls App Store subscription cancellation. Deleting a Narra account does not cancel an Apple subscription; you can manage it in Apple ID subscription settings.
  • Apple, Stripe, and Narra may retain limited transaction records for up to seven years where tax, accounting, fraud-prevention, or other law requires it. These records are not used to recreate a deleted Narra profile.

6. Hey Narra browser extension

What the extension can access.

The browser extension sends only text you explicitly select and ask Narra to explain. It does not read browsing history, form inputs, or unselected page content. Recent explanations remain in browser session storage and are cleared when that browser session ends.

7. Security and choices

Controls available to you.

Narra uses access controls, encrypted transport, and service providers designed to protect application data. You may withdraw AI processing consent, sign out, or permanently delete your account from Settings. You may also deny microphone permission; Narra Voice will remain unavailable until permission is granted.

8. Children

Age eligibility for Narra.

Narra is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so it can be removed.
